Een uniek en speels eerbetoon aan een legendarisch moment uit de Formule 1-geschiedenis. Deze twee volledig rijdende botsauto’s zijn recent gerestaureerd en opgebouwd naar analogie met het iconische incident tijdens de Franse Grand Prix van 1992 in Magny-Cours, waar de jonge Michael Schumacher in de openingsronde achterop de McLaren van Ayrton Senna reed.
Het moment groeide uit tot een van de meest besproken confrontaties in de Formule 1: Senna die in de pitlane de rookie Schumacher berispt en hem waarschuwt voor roekeloos rijden met koude banden en remmen. Het was een symbolische botsing tussen een regerend kampioen en een opkomend talent – een scène die de rivaliteit tussen twee generaties coureurs perfect illustreert.

This unique Drivable aRt Car is based on the iconic Mercedes-Benz 190 2.5D and has been entirely hand-painted by artist Frans Vogels. The car became a central highlight within the story of LEGENDS, representing a remarkable fusion of automotive heritage and contemporary art. The artwork was created using multiple layers of acrylic paint, after which the entire bodywork was finished with three layers of high-grade yacht varnish. This provides both a deep gloss and vibrant colours, while ensuring long-lasting protection. A thoughtful detail: the windows and headlights were first covered with protective decals before the painting process. As a result, the car can – if desired – be relatively easily returned to its original condition and used on the road again. The vehicle starts and drives, making it not only an art piece but a true “drivable sculpture.” This exceptional piece represents: a unique work of art an iconic Mercedes-Benz classic a symbolic object within the LEGENDS story Adding to its significance: The entire proceeds of this auction will be donated to the charity Een Hart voor Limburg.
